Two-factor authentication asks for a 6-digit code from an app on your phone each time you log in, as well as your password. Even if someone learns your password, they can't get in without your phone. We recommend it for everyone.
You need an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or Duo Mobile.
- Log in, open the Hello, [your name]! menu at the top right and choose Security Settings, or go to Security Settings.
- Under Two-Factor Authentication, click Click here to Enable.
- Time Based Tokens is already selected. Click Get Started.
- Follow the steps on screen: open your authenticator app, add an account, scan the QR code, and enter the 6-digit code the app shows. You may also be asked for your password.
- Save your Backup Code when it appears, in your password manager or somewhere safe. If you lose your phone, the backup code lets you log in. A backup code works once; after you use it, you get a new one.
From now on, after entering your password you will be asked for the current code from your app.
Lost your phone and your backup code? Contact us. We will verify who you are and can turn two-factor authentication off so you can set it up again.
